Slow Down, Summer!!

Dear Working Parents,

The July 4th holiday in the US always feels to me like the mid-point of summer...the downhill part of the roller coaster flying forward after that, until the start of school.

I don't think I'm mathematically correct that it's a mid-point for my kids, given they don't head back to school until late August, but for those of you whose kids got out in mid-May, perhaps it is? Doesn't matter. It feels like a turning point.

It's right about now, each summer, that I have the "it's going by so fast and I don't want it to end" feeling that I had midway through my maternity leaves. And this year, I'm determined to do something to slow it down. To savor and truly be present for the speedy second half.

Want to join me for an experiment?

I'm calling it "Savoring the Second Half of Summer," and it's my attempt to have the back half of Summer 2026 feel slower and more delicious.

For the 4 weeks from July 20-August 14, I'm going to lead a daily conversation on WhatsApp. Each weekday morning, I'll be posting a thought-provoking prompt and nurturing a conversation related to one of the 5 S's I've decided to focus on this summer:

  • Mondays: Steady 🪷
  • Tuesdays: Self 🙋
  • Wednesdays: Silence 🔇
  • Thursdays: Surprise 😯
  • Fridays: Silliness 🤣

The cost to join is $99 for the 4-week group. Given everything will be on WhatsApp, you can join in from anywhere.

If you want to come along with me for this intentionality, summer-slowing quest, simply hit "REPLY" to this e-mail, say "count me in!" Send me the phone number you'd like me to include for you on WhatsApp, I'll send you an invoice for the $99 payment, and we'll be off to the races. Or, rather, we'll be ignoring the races and slowing ourselves down to see what's in front of our noses, instead.

I really hope you'll join me. I'm excited to see what delights these intentions will bring!

September 17, 12–1pm Eastern: The Setback Cycle - Join me in conversation with Amy Shoenthal. In this thoughtful and practical conversation, we’ll explore how setbacks — from career disruptions and burnout to caregiving challenges, identity shifts, and unexpected life changes — can become catalysts for growth, reinvention, and transformation. We’ll talk about the four phases of The Setback Cycle, why defining moments often shape us in powerful ways, how working parents can navigate uncertainty and transition with greater self-compassion and resilience, and practical strategies for moving forward when life doesn’t go according to plan. The Setback Cycle offers a compassionate framework for understanding how difficult moments can ultimately move us toward greater clarity, confidence, and possibility. Register here.

Oops.” Fortunately, I don’t think...
